Real Wedding: Michelle and David
Our beautiful bride Michelle and her husband David were married on July 10th 2021. Their wedding at Hope Glen Farm in Cottage Grove could not have been more perfect. Continue reading to hear Michelle describe their magical day!
David and I met several years ago through David’s sister, Suz. Suz and I coached dance team for a few years and my cousin and her danced together in high school. David’s dad and my mom worked together as well, so there were many connections that led us together. After 2 years of dating, we took a trip to Seattle in October of 2019. We explored Pikes Place Market, took a ferry across the water, and David proposed on top of the Space Needle. One thing we love to do together is explore new breweries with our Bernese Mountain Puppy, Millie!
We ended up having a longer engagement than we had originally planned, but thank goodness because our wedding got postponed due to Covid. By postponing, we were able to celebrate as normal as possible with all of the friends and family we wanted there. The day was PERFECT! 82 degrees in July after being in the 90’s and humid before and after our wedding.
My favorite parts of the day were the first looks with bridesmaids, my dad, and of course David. Those were intimate, special moments that I will never forget. When I saw my dad for the first time, I gave him a sticker to put on the back of his tie. It was a picture of the two of us from 26 or 27 years ago when I was a little girl. Let’s just say it made him tear up a little! David’s favorite part of our day was seeing me for the first time at our first look and having everyone together to celebrate. We also both loved the first dance and soaking in every moment of our day!
One unique thing we had at our wedding was the dessert food truck: Now That’s Waffles. They serve fudge puppies which are Belgian waffles dipped in chocolate with sprinkles and whipped cream! Fun fact: that is my all time favorite state fair food that I have gotten since I was little!
While we were getting ready, my bridesmaids gave me a book of their favorite memories and pictures of us. It was extremely special and made me so emotional that I had to save reading some of the pages because I had already gotten my makeup done and didn’t want to smudge it with tears! For me, spending the night before and morning of with my most special friends, mom and mother-in-law was so much fun! There was little stress and we enjoyed laughs, mimosas and stories. David also loved spending time with his closest friends, his groomsmen that he has known since elementary school and his brother.
It was truly the best day– we heard from so many people that they had the time of their lives at our wedding. Being able to share that special day “normally” felt amazing. We ended the night with sparklers and a lot of fun dancing!!
